Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Okay, I’m not sure this is a comeback. I miss blogging…and reviewing. I’m constantly thinking about what I could say in a review and then I remember that I’m not really reviewing anymore. I don’t miss the stress I put myself under from it though. I can’t decide how to proceed. What I do know is that I placed an absurdly large Book Outlet order last week that arrived this week and I wanted to share the pretties with you!
PHYSICAL BOOKS
Purchased
City Of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare – When I saw the redone covers for this series, I had no interest in rebuying them. The new covers aren’t terrible, but they aren’t great either. But then I saw the spines. ::sighs:: Why can’t the covers be as pretty as the spines? Anyway, I’m glad to have them in my collection now. For anyone still living under a rock, this is the first book in a young adult urban fantasy series about vampires and demons and angels and shadowhunters.
City Of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare – I can’t buy one of the pretty spines without getting them all. It’s a good thing Book Outlet had them all for relatively cheap!
City Of Glass (The Mortal Instruments #3) by Cassandra Clare – Annndd book 3!
City Of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare – The contents of this book is a mystery to me. I haven’t finished the second half of this series.
City Of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare – Book 5!
City Of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare – The ginormous conclusion to this series. It’s sssooo big!
Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare – Again, I had no intention to buy another copy of the books in this series, but the SPINES. Unlike the Mortal Instruments books, I do plan to keep my old hardcovers of of this series. I adored this series so much. It’s even better than The Mortal Instruments.
Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2) by Cassandra Clare – God, this series is ssssooo good. I cannot believe that I’ve become that person that has several copies of a single book, but apparently I have!
Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare – This is one of the most beautiful finalies I’ve ever read. It’s one of my favorite books of all times.
Firefight (The Reckoners #2) by Brandon Sanderson – I can’t say much about this book because SPOILERS, but I adored it and I’m so glad to finally have my own copy.
Calamity (The Reckoners #3) by Brandon Sanderson – And this completes the series. Although, now that I have them all, I’m tempted to find a hardcover copy of Steelheart with the new cover because I have the original and they don’t match. 😦
Ink & Bone (The Great Library #1) by Rachel Caine – This is a replacement copy for me. I gave my copy to a friend as a birthday present. My husband loves this book, so hopefully I can get to it soon.
The Unlikely Hero Of Room 13b by Teresa Toten – This is a gift for a friend!
You Are Here by Jennifer E Smith – I bought this because I have enjoyed Jennifer E Smith’s previous work.
Tremble (Denazen #3) by Jus Accardo – Okay, so I bought this before I finished Toxic. I didn’t love Toxic….and I might have read spoilery reviews of this and I don’t think I like where it’s gonna go. 😦
Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles #4.5) by Marissa Meyer – AAAHHHH. More of the Lunar Chronicles? I needed it in my life. And the cover is just so pretty.
The Conspiracy Of Us (The Conspiracy Of Us #1) by Maggie Hall – I bought this mainly because it has gotten great reviews and it looks fun.
The Improbable Theory Of Ana & Zak by Brian Katcher – I adored this book. This is one of the best books I read last year. It’s hilarious and fluffy and perfect.
Born Of Deception (Born Of Illusion #2) by Teri Brown – I really enjoyed Born Of Illusion and I’m interested to see where this series goes. Bonus? It’s signed!
The Lies About Truth by Courtney C Stevens – I really enjoy Stevens writing style and I really enjoyed this story as well. It’s about loss and friendship and learning to live with the past. It’s great!
As I said, I bought way too many books, but they were so cheap and I needed them. I haven’t bought books in quite a while, so things got a bit out of hand here! What did you get this week?
