Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. PHYSICAL BOOKS
Purchased
The Secrets Of Sir Richard Kenworthy (Smythe-Smith Quartet #4) by Julia Quinn – I totally purchased a second copy of this for the signing. Last Sunday, I made a six hour drive to Alabama to see Julia Quinn. She was incredibly awesome and graciously signed all of my books. To clue you in on how many that was, I took every book that Julia has written except the anthologies co-authored by others. I’m too lazy to count the exact number, but it’s over 20. Anyway, she signed them all and joked about signing books to me if there was ever any doubt on who she should inscribe it to. 🙂 The drive back was as hellish as they always are, but I think it was worth it!
DIGITAL BOOKS
Amazon Freebies
Very Bad Things (Briarcrest Academy #1) by Ilsa Madden-Mills – I’ve heard great things about this!
Sneaking Candy by Lisa Burstein – I absolutely loved this book and I couldn’t resist grabbing this when it’s free. I recommend you grabbing a copy as well if you enjoy new adult romances! It’s great!
Gravity (The Taking #1) by Melissa West – I love this cover and I love alien stories. I’ve actually been wanting to read this for quite a while and I couldn’t believe it was free.
Driven (Driven #1) by K Bromberg – Sounds interesting and has great reviews, what more do I need?
The Mermaid’s Sister by Carrie Anne Noble – This was one of the Amazon Prime options for this month. I picked it because it had the prettiest cover!
The One That Got Away by Simon Wood – We got two Amazon Prime books this month. I liked the cover of this one. That’s it. No other logic.
FOR REVIEW
Blog tour
The Reality O by Candy Sloane (AKA Lisa Burstein) – I’m ssssoooo excited about this! You know freebie I got this week, Sneaking Candy? Well, the main character of that was secretly writing ertoica under the name Candy Sloane and Lisa was kind enough to actually write up that book for us.
SWAG
I didn’t get a bunch of swag, but I love what I got! When my husband and I went to see Jupiter Ascending, the theater gave us this great poster. I really enjoyed the movie. It’s just a touch too fast-paced, but beautifully shot and interesting. Then we have the flyer from Sunday’s signing which both Julia and Maya Banks were kind enough to sign. I also have that Bridgerton bookmark from the event. The other bookmark is an absurdly cool one. Simply Emily’s Designs on Etsy has premade bookmarks. Or you can fill out this very long questionnaire and she’ll custom make one for you. I did the custom-made option and am in completely love with it. It’s so awesome and detailed! There are quotes pulled from the books I love and images from movies/shows I enjoy. It’s perfect. I actually won the chance to order it from Courtney at Read Between The Books, so thank you! I love it!
That’s it for me this week! I didn’t get a bunch, but it’s quality over quantity this week! What did you get? Let me know in the comments!
