This week’s topic: Freebie – Crafts
I have never been an overly creative person. I can’t draw a stick figure, I suck at computer graphics…and coming up with out of the box ideas? My husband is definitely the creative one of the pair. He makes jewelry, fiddles with sketching, spends hours making things on Minecraft. But I was looking around on Etsy a few weeks ago and saw these awesome book charms for sale and thought I could try my hand at that. If I’m making them myself, I can customize however I want and those would make amazing Christmas/birthday/just because gifts for my friends. I went to my local craft stores and filled up a cart with supplies, came home, and proceeded to search the internet for instructions. I spent half of Saturday and all of Sunday playing around with this concept. The result? I have made two complete charms. TWO. It took hours to to complete each one and it’s tedious as hell to cut out all the paper and glue it together and then wait for it all to dry. I actually made three, but I fucked up the last one at the last possible moment. The really awesome thing is they are like little bitty real books. The tutorial I watched had you make it where the charm you make opens like a real book and it’s the coolest thing ever. Even after slaving way too long over them, I still couldn’t help but be proud that I created these little things. I’m far from perfect and I still need a few more supplies (and a bunch more practice), but I think this is one hobby I’ll stick with.

Oh my gawd those are adorable!!! I need to learn how to do that so my clay dragons can have something to read 😀
And I need to learn how to make the clay dragons! I actually went to Hobby Lobby and bought the clay and supplies to try but totally wussed out! Maybe one day!
