This week’s topic: Non-Bookish Hobbies
Okay, so I’m pretty boring. Reading is my main hobby, though I’m sure you can understand why! Beyond reading I only have a few other hobbies.
Watching movies I have said it before, but I’ll say it again, I love movies. I do. I like them in all forms, but am rather picky on a few details, such as the necessity of a good cast and a happily ever after. I love fiction because it’s an escape from reality and if I’m escaping reality, stupid rules like “people don’t always get a happy ending” shouldn’t apply, right? I am equally fascinated with watching them at home as I am on the big screen. My current big screen obsession is Frozen. I have seen it 4 times and will probably see it again this month sometime. 🙂
Watching TV shows The same rules apply here as they do to the films, but here we get a longer relationship with our characters. Sometimes it’s great because we get more of the things we love and sometimes it’s terrible because the show stops being about the story and starts being about the show makers making money. Either way, though, I’m addicted.
Video Games I’m not terribly guilty of this, but I do play on occasion. Right now I have a wicked obsession with the newest Pokemon game. They are so fucking cute! I liked to play old school, breaking out Super Mario Land or Yoshi’s Island on my Super Nintendo. I was also highly obsessed with DDR for most of my high school years and still play on rare occasion.
Playing like a kid I like to go and play at parks. Seriously, I like to swing and play on the jungle gym and do all that crap. I really think the world would be a better place if we had adult-sized playgrounds where we could let off steam that way.
Do you have any non-bookish hobbies? Let me know in the comments!
I can thing of at least one person that would agree with the need for adult playgrounds…one of my sisters. Not fair that the little kiddies have all the fun.
Kinda of jealous that you’ve seen Frozen four times already. I’m hoping to see it for the first time later this month.
Orchid @ The Haunting of Orchid Forsythia
It really would make everything better, being able to just swing or climb around without having to worry about anything else.
I hope you enjoy it! I went and saw it on opening night and I just haven’t been able to resist going back for more. I love the main girls, Anna because she’s so quirky and awkward and awesome.
Another gamer!! I love video games and even review them on my blog when I am done playing them! Movies and TV are totally my thing too. We have a lot in common. My Non-Blogger Hobbies
Awesome. I think I broke the geek-o-meter the other day when I was listening to an audiobook while playing Pokemon. ^-^.
I love watching movies, too! EEEEP I need to see Frozen ASAP. I want to see it sooo bad but my fiancé doesn’t and I don’t really have anyone else to go with. *sigh* I may just have to wait til it comes to video and rent it…
Yoshi’s Island?? Why have I not heard of this?! I used to be freaking obsessed with Yoshi’s Story. Gonna have to look it up ;D
And there’s nothing wrong with playing at parks! I hate that the McDonalds playlands have height/age restrictions -____-
Do it! It’s awesome! I’m lucky, my husband loves animated movies as much (if not more) than I do.
How have you not heard of Yoshi’s Island? There is the old school version for the Super Nintendo and then a updated one for the DS. I have both. They are epic.
XD. I know! I’ve actually used my niece as an excuse to play on the equipment before. They usually make me get down anyway, but I try!
